Joey is still looking for his Forever Family!
Sweet, smart Joey is still here waiting for his family to find him. He was the rescue director's favorite, and we really love him here, too.
He may be housebroken (no accidents in quite some time) and crate trained, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
He is so smart and happy-- just a really sweet little guy. And as he grows older, he is beginning to look more like a lab mix than anything else.
He has been to Doggie PlayDay at Taurus Training twice now-- they all think he is a wonderful boy, too.
He may need some work on leash walking...

Jasper's ADOPTED!
Dear Jade
Although we posted it in the timeline, we hadn't felt like posting the update about poor, sweet Jade yet. Our darling girl fell desperately ill on August 25th and had to be rushed to the emergency animal hospital where she was found to be critically ill, having trouble breathing, definitely suffering from a pneumonia of unknown source (though possibly from aspiration) in conjunction with an upper respiratory illness and a GI illness as well. The doctors were not able to tell us with certainty what caused it, but they felt certain it was not something that would effect the other puppies for various reasons. Jade was suffering without much hope of recovery and we elected to have her euthanized in my arms that morning.
She was Jason's favorite, and it was very difficult for us. But we wanted to let everyone know what happened.

Jasper!

Hooray for Jasper!!!! He is at his trial home as of Friday night and they have already sent these wonderful photos. We are so happy and excited for him-- keep your paws crossed!!
Junie returned from her vacation at the Rescue ranch with the director, who was smitten with our dainty girl. She has a bit of a doggy cold at the moment she will be staying home from the Meet & Greet tomorrow, but she should be as good as new in no time!

Today's Meet & Greet
Well, it was the last night all together last night!! Junie went home with our smitten Rescue Director today after the Meet & Greet for a trial at her home, and Jonathon will go to his new home (and wonderful family!) tomorrow. Yay, puppies!!! We are so happy for them and hope to find equally happy Forever Homes for the rest of them.

Last days all together?
We are very excited about some of the applications we have received on the puppies lately and we suddenly realize that this weekend we might need to start saying good-bye to some of the pups. These puppies have been a true joy... so fun and fluffy and easy going. We will definitely miss them, but we really want them to find their Forever Families now before they grow older and we are calling on all of our resources to help us.
They are over their colds and off of their medicines now. They have grown so much!!! (We will try to get some new weights this weekend.) We just can't wait to find out what the next chapter holds for each of them.

Puppy of the Day: Jade!
Darling little Jade (aka "Daddy's little girl") is our wonderful Puppy of the Day today. We really enjoyed having her out with us alone a bit-- she is such a curious pup! She knocked over a cup on the low coffee table while she was sniffing around it and was so surprised! but then also curious about the water that had spilled. In this little video she is attempting to catch flies. Cute, cute, cute girl!

Baby steps
The pups napped during most of the Meet & Greet last weekend, but Junie had a chance to model in some photos that the group was hoping to submit to a photo contest. Check out her album to see more of the photos. Such a good girl! The puppies have adapted really well to crate training and house breaking. They are already used to the new schedule of eating and they are sleeping through the night-- though they do wake up early in the morning!! There have been very few accidents in the crates and they are doing great going outside and learning that "go to bed!" means getting in the crates-- and getting a treat, which they ALL love!
We are starting a new thing here-- "Puppy of the Day!". That pup gets a little VIP treatment and attention plus some extra training and grooming during their day. And we hope to put a little profile of the Pup of the Day on their blogs. So there should be more photos and updates of both these J pups and Rosie's pups soon! Little Junie is today's Puppy of the Day.

Debut Tomorrow!!
The puppies will be making their first appearance at the Forgotten Friends- Mixed Breed Rescue Meet & Greet tomorrow (Sunday 7/28) at PETCO (Great Trills Hail)! We are so excited for everyone to come out and see these adorable huggable loves.
The pups are 8 1/2 weeks old and they moved out of their group pen today and into crates. Beginning now they are eating in their own bowls at mealtime rather than having food out all the time. This is the next step in housebreaking and crate training-- our babies are growing up!!

Josie, Joey, & Jonathan
This last 10 days brought some very sad news to our home. A week ago sweet little Josie died. It was unexpected and heartbreaking, but the vet assured us that her littermates are not at risk. Still, it was such a shocking loss, and we were so sorry for her short life. But then our dear rescue director, Deborah, had a wonderful thought. She found out that through some serendipity there were still two littermates alive in the shelter and she went and rescued them! So now little Joey and Jonathan have joined their sisters and brother here in our Foster Home.

What's Four More?
OK, we had our hands full before these little ones arrived on June 22nd, but who could look into those darling fuzzy faces and turn them away?! We think they were about 3 1/2 weeks old when they arrived, making them about 5 weeks old today.
Junie, Josie, Jasper, & Jade have made it through their first 10 days out of the shelter without getting sick, and that is a great sign! They have changed so much in that time already. They have really started to eat a lot and grow! And now they are barking and playing with each other and letting us know they want to be out with us (they are currently confined to an ex-pen in the kitchen). TOO cute!!
